I have been in Jeju Island for the first time in May. This is the island where my parents went for their honey moon, and it is still one of the top destination for couples. It takes 1h30 by flight from Seoul and 50 minutes from Daegu.

I strongly recommend to rent a car. It will be difficult to go where you want with public accomodation because the buses are rare and there is no subway. Renting a car will cost from 30000W per day, which is 21€. I will share in this post the places I liked most.

If you are interested in Korean make up, you have certainly heard of Innisfree, from the group Amore Pacific. All the ingredients used in their cosmetics are from Jeju Island. I like their hand creams (peanut butter / rose), lipsticks, and the product I use everyday is their Sun cream SPF 35. It is not sticky at all, and one tube lasts for 3 months. They have opened an Innisfree cafe, where you can purchase an exclusive collection only available in Jeju and make your own soap.

The Innisfree house is located just near the Osulloc Tea museum. Osulloc is a tea brand, also part of Amore Pacific group. Their teas are one sale in the department stores and they have their own tea house in Hongdae, Myeongdong and Apgujeong. I always drink the Buckwheat tea, it is caffeine free, and the flavor of roasted rice is awesome.

You can’t tell you have been to Jeju Island without trying seafood. For me, they were the best I have ever tried! « 순덕이네 », which is located in the East side of the Island – was the perfect address. If you like spicy, hot seafood, this place is for you ! It is preferable to call to check their opening hours because it depends a lot of the morning delivery. The decoration is rudimentary, the focus is on food. It was busy during lunch, but the service was perfect. You can also enjoy seafood picked directly by divers near the main touristic spots.

Jeju has also amazing vegetables. I can’t name them in English, but they were delicious in the Bibimbap I had at « 오당빌레촌 », a restaurant frequented by locals.

For the hotels, it is better to book before arrival during high seasons. Going from the far east to the west will take 1 hour by car. I stayed on the Island 5 days, but 4 days will be enough for basking in the sun, eating seafood and enjoying the breathtaking landscape.
