We were looking for a nice place for lunch while walking on Singel Straat, and fell on Wannemakers. It was very calm when we went there because it was raining that day. This place must be really great at night with cocktails and the view on the canals. 

  I chose mozzarella toasts and my friend Benedict eggs. We thought it would be not be enough but the quantity was ok for the rest of the day !

  We rent a bike at « Frédéric »- there are many other places who offer this service, we chose this one because it was not far from our hostel. It is more interesting to move in the city with bike rather than tram/subway. You can enjoy the architecture and the canals. If I can recommend you an area to stay it would definitely be Jordaan !
