As promised, the first article of 2015 is about the bakery « Du Pain et des Idées », in the 10th arrondissement. I admire M.Vasseur, the owner’s career path: from sales executive in the fashion industry, he has left it for dedicating his passion for bread. It is not a bakery like so many others you will come across in the city: there will be no pastries and the focus here is bread and viennoiserie. Don’t worry, for sweet tooth like me: Pain au chocolat and Mouna (orange blossom perfumed bread) will satisfy your sugar cravings.
I first heard about this place years ago when they received an award for the best bread by the guide Gault&Millau. After tasting his « Pain des amis », you will notice that they did not make an error by granting him this prestigious prize. I eat this bread with home made guacamole or hummus, both are perfect. Peanut butter is awesome on Mouna. If you are still hungry after eating all this amount of bread, you can try the « Chausson aux pommes », apple stuff bread. It is one of the only boulangerie to put a real apple in it.
If you have to (looks like I’m obliging you :-D) visit a bakery in Paris it is definitely this one. The moulding and the front shop will make you feel like time has stopped for a moment. Don’t be afraid by the queue, it goes fast and take time to admire the architectural details of the bakery.
Their bread is also served at « HolyBelly » and « Frenchie to Go ». Currently only one location in Paris. Despite rumors about other opening, M.Vasseur maintainted that he will never sacrifice quality, so not sure that another bakery will open in the near future.

Every time I come in Korea, the first coffee I visit is Sukkara. It is located in the calm part of Hongdae. I love this place because their chai latte & tofu cheesecake are the best in Seoul. I have tried many Chai latte but very often they were just too sweet (added sugar) and not enough spicy.
Sukkara is also famous for proposing vegetarian/organic dishes.

I’m going to share in this post one of my favorite spots in the Marais. As you now know, I love everything sweet, and i will not make any exception here. When I am in this area, I always feel obliged to visit Jacques Génin’s amazing chocolaterie. For me they are the best ones I have ever had. Since I have tried them, I can’t eat chocolate elsewhere. There used to be a pastry shop, but due to high demand, M.Génin has stopped selling them. Fortunately, he still proposes them in the tea room inside the store. His Tarte au citron is considered as one of the best ones in Paris but I don’t like lemon (too sour for me) but my friends who like lemon tart a lot, told me this one is definitely the best. I choose the very impressive Paris-Brest, which is, trust me a meal in itself! If you intend to take one, don’t eat anything before. The pecan pie is also delicious.
The caramels and the pâte aux fruits are also wonders. I would recommend to avoid the afternoon on week ends because you will have to wait for an hour or two before being seated in the tea room.
Les caramels et les pâte aux fruits sont aussi de petites merveilles. Je déconseillerai de venir les après midi en week-end car vous risquez d’attendre une heure ou deux avant d’être installé dans le salon de thé.

When you will look for Omotesando koffee, you will think the area is too calm to host a café, but keep on going. I would recommend to help yourself with a GPS because it can be tricky to find.
If you are interested in architecture, head to this incredible building designed in 2013 by the architect Kengo Kuma. You can taste a delicious pineapple cake at the Sunny Hills showroom. The houses in the area of Aoyama were all unique and beautiful to see. I loved walking there for several hours.
Address for the Omotesando Koffee: 4-15-3 Jingumae, Shibuya and Sunny Hills: 3-10-20, Minamiaoyama, Minato-ku

One of my favorite vegetarian canteen in Paris is Bob’s Kitchen. There are 3 different addresses: Bob’s Juice bar at 15, rue Lucien Sampaix, not far from the Canal Saint Martin and Bob’s Bakery at the Halles Pajol near Gare du Nord. Bob’s Kitchen is opened for breakfast + lunch and on week ends you have an amazing brunch with pancakes.
I always take the same thing: juice from the cold pressery, a veggie stew and for dessert my favorite matcha cookie. I have not yet taken a picture of those small treats, I always forget to take one before it ends in my mouth ! The crust is made with matcha and they are filled with chocolate. I should also try their muffin one day but the cookie is too good to be missed ! :-d

A must-try place for breakfast in Hong Kong is the famous Australia Dairy Company. The name can be misleading, because there is nothing Australian in the food, just the name. All my friends who already visited the city recommended this address. We were a group of 8 persons and despite the very long queue, we were sited very fastly. The motto here is: Queue, Eat, Leave ! The prices are low, from 27$ for a complete menu. I choose one with a bottle of milk + the legendary Scrambled eggs.
Even if I don’t drink milk very often, I loved the packaging of this bottle. You can also find them at all the convenience store (7/11).
It is a place to visit at least one time, and compared to other Breakfast places in HK, the scrambled eggs were very soft and had an amazing texture. You will be mixed with locals as well as tourists like me.
It is located in the North side of Kowloon park, you can take the subway at Jordan or Tsim Sha Tsui – and walk through the park.
