Matcha + Crepe ? The result is a stunning mille layers crepe cake. It is Lady M’s signature dessert, made with twenty layers of crepe and pastry creme. I had the matcha version, so next time I will try the chestnut and strawberry flavor!
Lady M cake boutiques are in Seoul, New York, Singapour and Los Angeles. I wonder when they will open in France..! Website here.
Gwangjang Market – Seoul

Gwangjang market is a traditional Korean market established since 1905. It is famous for Bindae-tteok (빈대떢), which has the shape of a pancake, made of mung beans and vegetables. The mung beans are freshly grounded in the stone grinder, then mixed with vegetables and fried. Makgeolli is the perfect drink to pair with this dish.
Eating in the middle of this indoor market among the hustle and bustle should be on your list of experience to have in Seoul!

Dessert spot : Okrumong / 옥루몽 – Seoul

Okrumong is a dessert spot specialized in red bean. The strawberry bingsoo was seasonal but the version with red bean is a classic. The secret of a good bingsoo relies on the red bean paste : the beans should be tender and firm. I can recognize when it is fresh beans or from cans because the last ones are generally too soft and sweet.
Okrumong is an excellent place for enjoying this ice shaved dessert. For those who may not be familiar to red bean paste, the taste is similar to chocolate!
You can also try rice cakes made of red beans. There are several locations across South Korea.
Alex and the Coffee at AND – Seoul

I read in a magazine that the owner of this cafe located in Hannam-dong prepared good ice coffee. Until now, the only experience of ice coffee I had were disappointing: just water, loads of ice cube but no taste of « coffee ». With spring and warm temperatures arriving in Seoul, it was the perfect timing to give a try. Alex and the coffee is also a restaurant, which I had not the opportunity to visit but their pastries were just amazing (on the picture the salted caramel brownie), if not the best I ever had in Seoul. If pastries are that good, i can’t imagine how nice the dishes must be!
For coffee lovers, the ice version really has the taste of coffee and not just water. They sell bottles of this cold drink if you want to take away. If you plan to go to Seoul this summer and you appreciate drinking good coffee, you now know where to go!

삼청동 맛집: 풍년 쌀 농산 떡볶이 / Where to eat Tteokbokki – Seoul
14 avril 2015 § 5 Commentaires
Tteok-bokki is a korean dish made of rice and red chili sauce – 고추장. It is the most widespread dish sold in food trucks and stalls as it is easy to prepare. A good Tteok-bokki should have a soft and chewy rice base and a sweet chili sauce which is not too spicy. After trying several addresses for finding the one, Ppoung-nyon Ssal Nong-san (풍년 쌀 농산) Tteok-bokki was the place which met all my expectations. It is like crepe in France: very easy to cook but only few places do it really well. The fried one on a skewer was my favorite : crispy and chewy at the same time, with a spread of sweet red sauce.
The drink to have with Tteok-bokki is Shik-he (식혜) made of rice and brown sugar. It is closed on Monday, and if you have the possibility, avoid the week end because the waiting time can be very long.

Anthracite Coffee Roasters – Seoul
12 avril 2015 § 1 commentaire
Located in what used to be a shoe factory, Anthracite coffee is hidden between residential buildings near Hapjeong and Seongsu station. If you are a coffee connoisseur, you will be able to appreciate carefully sourced beans in a calm atmosphere far from the hustle and bustle.
Their pastries are very good, and the 2nd floor is very spacious with a terrass for sunny days. Thanks again 수영언니 for showing me this place.
