After the visit of Casa da Música designed by the architect Rem Koolhas, Joséphine and I stumbled upon this Casa de Chá (tea house in portuguese) located on Praça da Republica. Teas are from Palais des thés and there is large choice of delicious cakes and pastries. BUuh! e etc was a very nice spot for drinking tea in a relaxing atmosphere. An edgy selection of magazines, vintage furniture and vinyls are decorating this space.

Tea shop / Thé Yam’tcha – Paris

Yam’tcha restaurant has closed this summer and a tea shop has opened recently on the same street. Yam’tcha was famous for proposing food pairing with teas. Adeline Grattard*, the Michelin Star chef is preparing Baos while her husband M. Chi wah Chan will welcome you with Henry in the tea shop. I tasted a black tea and a Blue tea with « Tchin Toï », donut like bread filled with chocolate. M. Chi wah Chan had lived in Hong Kong, and there is a wink at his origins on the tea menu: you can try « Lai Cha », a Hong Kong style tea with milk. It reminded me the breakfast I had during my journey in this city.
If you do not know yet what to offer for Christmas, you can’t go wrong with fine teas from Yam’tcha. They have a selection of teas that will please to all connoisseur. You can ask Henry for the infusion and preparation details.
The restaurant will open next year in a new location but you can comfort yourself with the delicious baos to take away. There are 5 different choices of Baos, the comté with onion looks awesome !

Teakha – Hong Kong

Teakha was on top of my list of addresses to visit. I saw it in my cityguide, and their Green tea cheesecake looked very tempting. It is hidden in the calm Tai Ping Shan street, near Man Mo temple. The chinese characters « 茶 家 » are for Tea « 茶 » and « 家 » family, house.
They have a vast selection of drinks with tea, and I chose the Chai Tea Latte, (my favorite!) with the cheesecake. Their organic products are from Asia, and their pastries are prepared here.
I have tried so many Chai Latte in different places, I think Teakha’s Chai can be considered as one of the best I have tried until now. The spice was strong and was perfectly matching with my pastry. However, I wish the Green tea taste was more present.
